Professional Statement

Dr. Melanie R. Cleary is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has worked with adult individuals since 2007. Therapy is a confidential space to explore areas where you are feeling stuck, experiencing difficulty, or contemplating change, with the goal of feeling more confident and whole as a person. Individuals seeking therapy often present with issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, spiritual/existential questions, and various forms of addiction (pornography, hypersexuality, substance abuse). Dr. Cleary creates a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere, and approaches the work from a Harm Reduction perspective because people deserve help at any stage of use or recovery. Abstinence is not a requirement for receiving treatment. Many times, addiction is accompanied by interactions with the legal system and therapy can be a space to express challenging thoughts and feelings about legal problems or experiences of incarceration. Dr. Cleary strives to practice from an open and creative stance, focusing on the patient's unique strengths and inner wisdom as tools for transformation and growth.
