Therapy with me allows you to be genuine, and develop a productive therapeutic alliance. Therapy is personal and therefore unique to each individual, couple or family. My job is to develop a wellness plan that is tailored to your unique situation, needs and goals.
Who am I and why should you work with me? I didn’t find psychology, psychology found me. Growing up as a biracial/multicultural person I’ve had to navigate many of my own cultural, geographical and economic challenges learning lessons along the way and connecting with people from varied backgrounds. I understand the unique struggles, circumstances, identities, transitions may pose. I have embraced my identity, adversity, and experiences allowing me be an effective, understanding and empathetic ally for those I serve.
My personal background and interest in social justice has led me to work with all types of people, tackling a variety of issues through therapy and clinical consultation. With more than 30 years of progressive clinical experience in Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Agencies, Hospitals, Institutions, Prisons, Universities and Non- Profits, I have witnessed the therapeutic nature of respect and dignity. Certainly, I have honed my clinical and consulting skills and developed a deeper appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit through my work with people fleeing severe interpersonal violence and war trauma in Central America, Europe and the Caribbean. Working across different socioeconomic levels; with diverse gender, ethnic and national identity and varied physical and cognitive ability, has prepared to be an avid confidant advisor and ally.
